Miscellany

Did you know that I am going to Hawaii! Yes! I am! In 3 weeks. So, Zane will be working there for the week, and I will be tagging along. I cashed in 65,000 Alaska Miles for a First Class Ticket on American. My favorite thing about that is that most of my air miles were earned while working – so it really basically is a free ticket!

Also, I am the proud owner of this . Our house has Central Vacuum, but after trying it out, we decided it really didn’t work that well. And, Chanel told me that her neighbors house burned down a few years back, and the culprit in starting the fire was their ancient central vac system. So, I am pleased with the purchase. It works like a champ and the hose is super long, which is helpful in getting up my stairs.

This past weekend was very much fun – while recovering from a nasty kidney infection! Anyway, we headed to Eugene bright and early on Saturday morning to cheer on my alma mater (is there feminine version of this? I thought there was) the Oregon Ducks. They killed Stanford, which was delightful. It was a great start to the season! I can’t wait for what is hopefully a winning season for my Duckies. And, there are only a few oboxious folks near our seats this year – we’ll see how it pans out. Let the drunkenness begin! Side note – our seats are near the Student Section, which of course, is where I used to sit as a student (duh) and man, are they nuts! Kids these days!

After the game, we hurried home to have a “Yay! Kathina’s Here” dinner at Meriwether’s. Zane had Mushroom Struedel, which was absolutely delightful, but very high in fat I am sure. I was still stuffed from beer and crap at the game, so I had cocktails and a yummy Caprese salad.

Sunday was uneventful, except for the Dyson Purchase! Also, we bought a gas BBQ finally – we’ve had a itty bitty Smoky Joe forever, and it’s really not the type of bbq you want when entertaining.

But! Monday was very fun. I hosted my very first barbecue at our new house! Unfortunately, Zane had an early flight to Vegas as he worked there on Tuesday. But, in honor of Kathina, I invited a bunch of friends over and we had a great time. Flickr pictures here.

So, that’s that. Nothing new on the job front, I have an in person interview next week that will hopefully pan out. It just seems that there aren’t any jobs out there for someone with my experience. They are either director level jobs, or entry level jobs. Nothing for someone like me! UGH!!
