Day 28 – Let It Snow!!

This morning was a delight as I woke up to some snow on the ground! It had snowed a bit here yesterday, but never ended up sticking. Zane and I built a fire and had some wine to celebrate my job (yay!!) and looked out at the snow falling.

Anyway, about my job! I start next week and will be doing online type marketing for a large company with an office here in Portland. I am SO excited as you can imagine. It’s exactly what I was hoping to do, and I get to focus on my favorite parts of marketing. Also, I didn’t have to take a pay cut, like I was fearing I would. Another plus – I will be working in downtown Portland again, so it’s very convenient.

Because it is sooooo cold tonight, we’re having soup and grilled cheese for dinner. I am going to make Chicken and Orzo Soup – a Pampered Chef recipe. So, I am off to do that!!

Day 26 – A tourist in my own city

Today was Zane’s grandma’s last day in Portland. She’s been complaining that she hadn’t been walking enough – so we took her out and about today.

Our first stop was the Pittock Mansion. It’s such a beautiful place to come and visit anytime of the year, especially Christmas. Each year there is a theme and the mansion is decorated accordingly. This year the theme is “Favorite Toys.” I was very glad to be able to visit here again. We seriously live only about 5 minutes from here, but it’s just not something you do if you live in Portland. The last time I had visited I was about 12 and really couldn’t appreciate all the beauty.

After a quick trip to the craft store for some emergency yarn, and also running into my orthodontist there (I hope my teeth looked good!) and a quick bite to eat, we went to The Bishop’s Close. I wish we would have had more time, but we spent too much time at Happy Hour beforehand. I’ve lived in this area my whole life (except two years in Seattle and my college years in Eugene) and have never been here. But, I for sure will go back to explore another day.

Now we are home enjoying our very first fire in our fireplace! We are completely fire building novices and could use a lesson or two!!
