One Year

Grandma and I

It’s so hard to believe, but;  one year ago this week, my sweet Grandma passed away.

My heart still aches. And, I don’t see that ever going away. I think of her every single day, at least once. I don’t ever want to stop thinking of her.

I’ve struggled a lot with what to do this week to honor her memory. I don’t know. I visited her grave last weekend, as well as one of her very favorite spots in her hometown. It’s not enough.

But, I love you Grandma. I love you.

Losing a grandparent is never easy, especially one you’re close to. I’m struggling with a sick grandmother and trying to contemplate what it will be like once she’s gone. It’s still unfathomable.

              ((hugs)) I’m so sorry, Rhi.

I don’t usually do anything to commemorate the anniversary of my dad’s death, only because he died on my gramma’s birthday (and she’s still alive), but on his birthday I usually cook a meal that was his favorite. <3

                A year already?

I think the greatest tribute to her is the fact that you think about her every single day and miss her. You are honoring her by continuing to love her and keep her memory alive.

These posts make me so sad for you. And sad for me because I so don’t have that kind of bond with my grandmother.

When you love someone the way you love your grandma, it stays with you. And even when it hurts, it’s a gift.
