Friday Bullets: Time Flies Edition

  • Last night was the premiere of So You Think You Can Dance. One year ago, I was at my friend Melanie’s house watching this very program and perhaps drinking a lot of wine when a commercial for Free Communication Weekend on eHarmony came on. Melanie told me to sign up.
  • The next day, I did. The next day after that, my boy and I began “communicating”, and HOLY CRAP, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?
  • It means I only have a couple of weeks to find the Perfect Anniversary Gift. Budget? $200. Now, go! Find something for me!
  • It also means that I will forever associate So You Think You Can Dance with meeting my boyfriend. Tell me that is not the most romantic and sweet thing you’ve ever heard.
  • Speaking of my boyfriend, apparently he was drinking heavily one day, because he challenged me on Nike+ to run 50 miles by the end of June. Of course there is a prize (yet to be determined) for whoever finishes first.
  • I am going to win this prize. (We are the most competitive couple EVER)
  • I’ve been told that there is a $1 flip flop sale this weekend at Old Navy. I’d very much like to procure some $1 flip flops, but I feel that in doing so I’m supporting the horrible, terrible, no good mannequin commercials.
  • I’m quite pleased that we don’t have too many definite plans this weekend. You know, other than sitting outside in the sun with an adult beverage and a good book.
  • We will be going to my good friend Cherie’s house on Sunday where I will be bringing this coleslaw.
  • Enable me please. Do I need this blouse? And this one? And these pumps, and also this dress? All of these items are in my cart with a 20% off code just begging to be purchased.
  • Now, if you’ll excuse me. I’m going for a run – I have a challenge to win. (Oh, HILARIOUS side note: guess who went off to Chicago this week without his Nike+ transmitter? None of his runs will count toward the 50 miles. HA!)

I’m going to say that blouse #2 is a need. Happy Almost Anniversary. I’ll do some brainstorming to see if I can come up with some gift ideas.

    1. Kate says:

That’s a good challenge. And silly Boy for leaving his transmitter behind.

I might need new flip flops. I mean, seriously, who can/should pass up $1 shoes?!

      Have a good weekend!

I love the dress and definitely think its a go (I would buy it in Navy if my breastacularness didn’t make shift dresses look like tents on me).

As for the gift… if he’s a fan of The Big Lebowski, you can’t go wrong with this: http://bit.ly/X2Rag

I like how you try not to shop at places with crappy advertising. I do the same thing but sometimes I just can’t resist if it’s a place I frequent. Those mannequin ads are horrific though.
Wow, a whole year already? I seems like just yesterday you were blogging about that. Good luck with the gift search.

I am so glad for my DVR and I can fast forward through those Old Navy commercials. Worst ad campaign ever. I mean, good in the fact that mannequins now = Old Navy. Bad because no one wants to shop there because of them.

The only plans I have this weekend are cleaning out my old apartment and making a stop at Goodwill for all the stuff I have to donate. I am very excited to have no plans.

LOVE shirt #2, but heck, put shirt #1 in there too. I too was watching the show last night and noticed the commercial for $1 flip flops…guess who is going to have them in every color!?!?

              Cherie’s last blog post..oops!

We fast forward all commercials ever since we’ve had the PVR, but I am curious about the Old Navy commercial now…

Enjoy your long weekend! It’s supposed to be glorious here as well.

Definitely get shirt #2 and the dress. I could take or leave the pumps, but they are a nice nude.
Doesn’t jcrew have flip flops? I know they’re not $1, but they are certainly more cute. And you have that 20% off! All the more reason.

                  1. Kerri Anne says:

That dress is (cute! and) on sale. Of course! you need it.

We’re headed out of town this weekend, but pedicures and Rhi hang out time for sure when I get back! Maybe le girls can get together and watch SYTYCD one of these nights!

Love the silk tie neck tank and dress! I have not shopped at Old Navy since they started using those inane mannequins. I loathe them. I’d rather pay $5 for flip flops elsewhere.

I think you need all of those things! Have a great weekend, if we weren’t going out of town we’d be there!:(

I think you only need the 2nd blouse, the pumps and the dress. The first shirt is pretty but you could find it any time at jcrew. The other 3 items – unique must haves.

                            1. Angela @ Lost In Splendor says:

You have no reason to not buy all those items. For reals.

Good luck with finding the boy an anniversary present. I find electronics somehow never fail, but I’m struggling with finding a perfect anniversary gift for my own “boy” so I’m not any help with that.

Those $1 flip flops have weird (molding?) on them that will TOTALLY cut up your feet in between your first two toes. So they aren’t even worth $1. You’re missing nothing.

I think you need all of those things. I hate the old navy commercials. I don’t like going to old navy as much now because of the mannequins.

Those pumps are timeless! Ouch, I have the same issue, too many things in my shopping cart!

$200.00 can get you more than you think.. what about a classic scrapbook of then and now? That’s always fun!!

2 other options- if you want to do a designer item, the high end guys (gucci, cartier), have those thin wallets (more for credit cards) for only $100-130!!

They are classy, look even more expensive, and more importantly they are useful!!

Let us know how it goes :)

                                    1. Julienne says:

I would be impressed with myself if I ran 50 miles in a year, let alone in a month.

I’m a kilometers kind of girl, so 50 miles just sounds insane.

I heard about the $1 flip flop sale, but just couldn’t justify it. I don’t have anywhere to put any more shoes!

                                      Julienne’s last blog post..Thankful.

the second shirt and the dress are too good of bargains to pass up. I say buy them now.
