Camera Woes
- So, as you know we’re back home.
- As I mentioned in my previous post, we both caught some sort of stomach bug on the ship and it just doesn’t want to let go.
- But, it’s turned out to be the best diet ever, so I’m okay with it (I only say this because I’ve finally stopped vomiting). My appetite is shot. Exhibit A: my dinner last night consisted of 3/4 of a tuna fish sandwich. I was so full after eating it I could barely move.
- I really want to post a vacation recap, as well as all of my pictures, but each time I look at my photos I get really sad, because photos are taken with a camera and we had an unfortunate experience with my camera on the way home.
- Picture it: Monday Morning, Bill is SICK and is barely able to pull himself together to get ready to leave for the airport. He’s in charge of his normal suitcase and backpack. I’m in charge of my normal suitcase, carry-on and handbag. I’m also in charge of the camera, which I am not used to being in charge of, which is totally stupid because it is MY CAMERA.
- We hop in a cab at the Hotel Solamar, the doorman makes a comment about how much crap we have, I make a mental note that our cab has a really weird name and off we go to the airport.
- We’re in line to check our bags and I screech, “MY CAMERA!” realizing it’s gone. I immediately call the Kimpton and speak to a really sweet lady who calls all over San Diego looking for my camera. I also call cab companies. I believe that I find THE CAB COMPANY and they are evasive and say a camera has not been turned in.
- Before you think I’m blaming this on someone else, please know that I am not. This is fully my fault. BUT, there’s someone being very dishonest in this situation and to that person I say, KARMA IS A BITCH. And, also, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.
- So, I’m sad and angry. Mostly at myself. And, thank GOD, I thought to upload all the photos off both of my cameras midway through the cruise. So, our engagement photos are safe. But, I really want my camera back. I bought it with money my Grandma gave me the Christmas before she died and it’s special to me.
- So, if you’re in San Diego and you happen to spot a Canon Digital Rebel XTi in a black bag with dark blue polka dots on the flap, IT IS PROBABLY MINE.
- I’m continuing to call San Diego cab companies, and I’ve posted a Craigslist ad in the hopes it will turn up somewhere.
- My awesome boss asked if it was covered under my renters’ insurance, AND IT IS. But, I’m almost too embarrassed to call and turn in a claim.
- Any ideas, dear readers?

Don’t be embarrassed. That’s what renters insurance is for. I hope someone honest gets it back to you though. For reals.

Call and make the claim, that’s what insurance companies are for and you pay them good money every month to be there for these sorts of circumstances.
Also–love the new design! Swoon!

God, that blows, especially since the cabby is probably snapping pictures all over town with it or hawking it on eBay. I would completely claim it, absolutely.

That is exactly what I imagine him doing. Only, tossing his head back and laughing maniacally before snapping each photo.

Claim it! That’s what insurance is for. Maybe not if it were a little point and shoot, but it is a DSLR. That is most certainly claim worthy.

Did your cruise line hand out information about the norovirus?? We’ve been on three cruises, and on one of them there was paperwork in our stateroom about the norovirus. My hubby and I both came home from that trip sick as dogs, and it lasted for two weeks. I hope your bug goes away much quicker!

Yea, you can claim that, but the other thing is to check and see how much your deductible is. It might not be worth turning in the claim. Renters Policies are pretty inexpensive to alot of other policies out there and can range from 100 to 400 dollars a year depending on how you want them to work for you.
Call me on this one cousin. I can give you all the advice and information you are looking for.
