Four Months Out

As it turns out, my wedding is FOUR MONTHS from tomorrow. So, what did I do to commemorate this?

Guess What This Is

I went ahead and bought a different wedding dress. J.Crew had to go and put a new dress in their spring collection and I became totally smitten. Here’s hoping this dress is actually THE ONE so I can get on to more important things…like shoes. Speaking of shoes, I have permission to buy these beauties. The only problem? I’m 5’11″, my fiance is 5’9″ and they’re 3.5 inch heels. Bill’s fine with it, as long as I have an alternate pair of flats to wear for dancing and such. I just need to decide if I want to tower over him.

My other options are currently, these Kate Spade lovelies or maybe a blue shoe for my something blue (totally stealing that from my girl Crist). Any other ideas for me? I’m willing to spend a bit more as I went way under budget on my dress. Well, once I return wedding dress the first.

The Other Woman

Once upon a time, in the 1970s, a darling (emphasis on darling) little girl was born to a man and a woman. The man and the woman loved their darling girl very much, but just didn’t get along. So, they divorced. The woman went on and remarried not once, not twice, but three times. The darling girl lived with her mother and these relationships were hard on her and made her feel very lonely. The man probably dated, but he never ever let his darling girl know this. The darling girl spent every other weekend with her father and was the center of his attention. And, she loved having someone who didn’t ignore her.

Thirty years pass by and while the man lets his darling her know that he’s dating people, he never ever introduces her to anyone he dates. One day, when the girl is 31 years old, she receives an email from her father letting her know that he’s met a nice woman…and he wants to introduce her to the girl.

And, the girl was at work when she read that email. And,  she sat at her desk and cried (thus breaking the very first rule of being a professional). The darling girl cried to her fiance that evening and her fiance may have rolled his eyes a little bit. And, then the darling girl realized that she was being a wee bit selfish and told her father that she was happy that he’d met someone and that she’d love to meet his girlfriend.

News flash: this girl is me and this meeting is on Friday. I really truly am excited to meet my father’s, um, girlfriend. But, I’m so used to being the only girl (that I know about) in his life. I’m also really a big fat baby and I want to pout about it. As much as I want him to be happy, I still want to be the center of his world. So, wish me luck?

Key learning for single parents: don’t wait until your child is 31 before you let them meet someone you’re dating.

Still Here

Oh, Internet. Owning a home is hard work. I’m still here, I’m just tired and still getting settled. And I promise I’ll be back soon. After vie had some sleep, perhaps.

xoxo

P.S. I’ve posted this on my new iPad, which I’m absolutely smitten with.
