TWO MONTHS, PEOPLE
Last night, I woke up at 1 a.m, 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. in a panic. Why, you ask? Because it seems my wedding is just two short months from today.
Let’s take a look at my to-do list, shall we?
- Stuff and mail invites (thanks to the lovely, lovely Gorillabuns for addressing them for me)
- Buy poofy thing for under my dress (what did we decide this was called?)
- Make final cake design decision
- Decide on what to do for a guest book. Ideas? (don’t suggest an actual guest book or I will kick you)
- Decide on a clever way to let guests know where they’re sitting
- Find bridesmaids gifts
- Find bridesmaids shoes
- Buy underthings
- Find earrings to match this bracelet
- Decide on what I want my hair to look like
- Buy Bill’s gift (this is picked out, I just need to pull the trigger on it)
- Find flower girl baskets (why are these all so damn tacky?)
- Talk the older flower girl, my niece Angelina, out of a RED DRESS. If you’ve met her, you’ll know that this will be very, very difficult
- Figure out decorations/flowers for ten tall cocktail tables upstairs at my venue. Also, figure out what the head table is going to look like
THIS IS EXHAUSTING. Any tips or ideas for me? Also, hop on over to my review blog to let me know how you stay rested during the busy summer months for a chance to win a $100 Visa Gift Card.

Try Nordstrom’s own line of jewelry (there’s a counter in their store). I got some cool gold-tinted earrings to match my pearls and go with my dress for my wedding. Oddly enough, finding earrings was my biggest challenge in pulling together my look!

Hang in there, sweetie.

Probably too late to tell you to elope, huh? :)
As for seating cards/tables, my one friend did types of wine, which I thought was clever. I was at the Malbec table.

I am full of ideas. I thought you guys hired a wedding coordinator? Am I wrong? If so why isn’t she being helpful?
Think about you and Bill. You guys are foodies who love books for example so use that maybe as a springboard for table naming? I went to a wedding once where the tables were named after bands the couple had seen live together (they were huge music buffs).
28. June - 1:54 pmIt’s going to be perfect! Let me know if you need help with anything! My work crazy is all over, thank God!

Poufy thing= petticoat or slip
Bridesmaids gifts – I went to etsy and found some awesome girly aprons for each of my girls. You could probably find some cute, unique gifties.

No tips. I just wanted to tell you that your bracelet is gorgeous. I married a Bill and we have been together for 17 years. And I still break into song…marry me Bill…who did that song?
28. June - 8:44 pmWine bottles or magnums from a place you love are great fun. There’s also the picture frame mat (a little overdone) or large platter that can be signed, which is cute. Or have people sign a cookbook if you two like cooking?
Do the bridesmaids’ shoes need to match? If not, delegate this one out to them; chances are they can each handle choosing and purchasing their own shoes, right? If that’s a big NO is there one bridesmaid you extra-special trust to head up this project and spread the word to the others once shoes have been selected?
Etsy has been my savior for non-tacky ring bearer pillow options. Or head to a craft store for a non-lame basket and have a crafty friend help make it look snazzy. Pomanders are also lovely for the girls to carry if you aren’t set on walking on actual petals they have thrown.
Poufy-petticoat: can you borrow from a friend/relative (something borrowed and you don’t have to shell out)? Check out bridal shops and ask salespeople at fancy dress shops.
Good luck!
28. June - 9:40 pmIn lieu of a guest book pick up (order online) postcards from places you and Bill have visited, or would like to visit. Make sure each of your guest receives one, when they enter your wedding venue, along with instructions to take a moment and share their best wishes, sign them and drop them in a decorative container/basket for the happy couple. Delegate someone to make sure those cards are collected and placed in your luggage before leaving for your honeymoon. During your honeymoon you will find random times to select a few cards and read them. Once you return from your honeymoon you can add the cards to a photo album or make a photo collage together.

Alcohol bottles are always good – especially from a winery.
Your invites should be there by Thursday. I do hope you are happy with them.

29. June - 8:01 amIf you need help with anything, I’d be more than happy too. But I don’t have any tips for anything, I haven’t been to that many weddings and everyone in my family seems to have the same type of wedding over and over and over.

we had a platter with our monogram on it that a friend did at one of those paint your own pottery places and guests signed it at the wedding and I fired it in my oven as per the instructions…Love it way more than a guest book and I use it!

It’s a crinolin, and if I did it again, I’d skip it-makes things hotter than Hades under there! Also, I agree w/ Cess regarding the signed platter…I didn’t think I’d like it, but my parents got us one for everyone to sign and I LOVE IT. Hangs in our living room and I love the little notes from everyone on it.
2. July - 1:55 pmI found my crinoline on craigslist – for $25! woot!
Definitely also a very borrow-able item.
for guest book we’re doing a shutterfly type album of our photos that people can sign. There is also that adorable book with all the tiny envelopes where people write on tiny cards and put them in the tiny envelopes and aren’t embarrassed by what they wrote because no one else can see.
I also saw a cute idea in a magazine – it was tiny scrolls of paper that were in a heart shaped box – people remove the empty scrolls, write something clever, and then put them back.

for the guest book, set up a Mac laptop with it open to photobooth, and have it set to video – them a small card in front saying: “click here” or what have you, and let folks leave a cute little video message (or, get a geeky teen who’s coming and wants to be anti-social to run it) ;)
