8.28.10

I’ve been trying for the past couple weeks to figure out how to put my wedding day into words. The truth is, I just don’t know that I can. All I can say is that it turned out a million times better than we ever could have imagined. We had so much fun that day and while I’m so glad that it’s over…I’m also really sad that it’s over. So, instead of words, I’ll show you some of my favorite shots of the day.

There’s a million more pictures to go through, which you’ll eventually be able to see on Flickr. Now, in another three weeks, I’ll tell you about my honeymoon.

The Bouquet

008

I promise promise to provide a real wedding update soon, but you see I’m very exhausted and having a hard time adjusting to my actual time zone AND being back at work after 3 glorious weeks off. I’ve had a ton of questions about my bouquet, so I thought I’d tell you a bit about that and then go nap for the next 3 days.

Before I hired my wonderful wedding coordinator Misty, I stalked her via blog for a few weeks. When she posted this gem, I knew I had to hire her.

When my Grandmother passed away, my aunt and I spent an afternoon going through all her costume jewelry. She had SO MANY lovely lacquer brooches and clip on earrings. I put them in my pile not knowing what I’d ever do with them. When I saw Misty’s blog post on the brooch bouquet, I got chills.

I contacted the lady mentioned in her post and was told that it would be $350 to assemble the bouquet and I’d have to provide 50-75 pieces. I had nowhere near that many. Also, I wasn’t thrilled about spending that kind of money for a bouquet. As luck would have it,  a couple of weeks later, I met the girl who would end up being my floral designer at a mini bridal show at Portland Center Stage and she said she could assemble the bouquet for a fraction of the price.

The final bouquet contains brooches and clip on earrings (and even a ring or two)  from my mom, both my Grandmothers, my great Auntie Helen and both Bill’s grandmothers. I still didn’t have quite enough, so I purchased some extras on eBay.

According to my bathroom scale, the bouquet weighs 3.2 pounds. Which totally explains why my arm ached the day after my wedding. It currently sits on my mantle and I love that I have a bouquet that I can keep forever. Also, I know my Grandma would have loved to know her brooches were  a part of our big day.

Hello. I am a married lady.

And, we’re back.

The past couple weeks have been absolutely crazy. But, absolutely perfect.

I’ve spent the last 10 days with my husband in Spain, France, Croatia and Italy.

It was wonderful, but we are exhausted. There is laundry to do and a nasty head cold to get over.

I’ll post a wedding recap soon, but for now, I’ll leave you with this:

Ooh! But, wait…there’s more!
