Welcome to Miami

Every February, Bill packs two suits and his swim trunks (do we still call them that?) and boards a plane to Miami for a conference. Every February, I stomp my feet and stick my lower lip out because I’m not going. This year, I decided to go with him. Thank goodness. Because it looked like this at my house the day we left.

We left Portland on the red eye (private to Bill: NO MORE RED EYES, MISTER) and a very, very long time later we arrived here:

where I had two of these while waiting to check into our room.
.
On Saturday, we had tickets to attend a progressive dinner at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival, which if you ask me was a big fat waste of money. The food was mediocre and the wine wasn’t that good. BUT, there was a little reception in the Design District at the Jonathan Adler store and GUESS WHAT?
Jonathan Adler loves me
I met Mr. Jonathan Adler. He is adorable and I’m pretty sure I want to be his best friend. I wanted to tell him that we had many of his lacquer accessories at our wedding and that I was trying to work his bright furnishings into our 1924 bungalow. But, I was too nervous and forgot all of that. Oh well.

The rest of the trip was spent lounging by the pool, finishing the Stieg Larsson trilogy (so sad it’s all over), shopping in South Beach (at stores I could shop at here without paying sales tax – why do I do that?) and attending conference receptions that had fancy Cirque du Soleil style performers with Bill.

My hair looked terrible the entire trip and because of poor sunscreen application skills I have a horribly uneven tan, but I was never cold and I was with my PIC (partner-in-crime) for some much needed relaxation. I think I’ll go back next year. But, with more hair product and better sunscreen.

There are few constants in life, but one of them is that Florida and good hair just do not go together.

That beach picture directly under the snOMG one? That is where I NEED to be right now. I literally spent half of today daydreaming about various beaches where I would be able to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. I think this winter has turned me into some sort of beach vampire. And now this comment makes no sense, but my overall point is: #TEAMMIAMI.

I’m not sure I could ever visit Miami just because the Will Smith song would play on a loop through my head and I would drive myself crazy.

I was very happy you came home so that I could stop singing Will Smith. Unfortunately, I am once again singing Will Smith.

That is soooo cool! If I had known he was going to be there, I would have gone. I’m in South Florida.

Miami definitely looks better than all that snow.
