Bits

First things, first…it seems that now, at 18 weeks gestation, that I officially have a belly.
18 Weeks. Wow. I look huge.
Disclaimers: this was taken in a hotel room, with horrible lighting in Eastern Oregon, where I was on a work trip. There was not an abundance of healthy food on this trip, which is why I believe that I look so large. I look less giant today, I promise you. Also: I was wearing maternity pants with the demi panel and let me tell you, those are the WORST. I push the panel down underneath my belly because otherwise it creates a large dent on my stomach, which is not attractive.

Speaking of feeling huge, we are headed to Costa Rica in a few weeks for vacation and I just ordered approximately 44,000 swimsuits from J.Crew in hopes that one will fit. Not only am I allergic to most maternity clothing (um, Old Navy), I am also allergic to maternity swim wear. Note to designers: pregnant ladies do not want to wear bad fabrics and bows the second they become in the family way.

We’ve kind of started with nursery plans and I’m really excited to see how everything will come together. We have bedding, paint and one sweet little piece of art for the wall. If you’re interested in seeing some of my ideas, check out my Nursery Board on Pinterest.

In other news, we traveled to Boston for Memorial Day Weekend and had a lovely time. I love visiting cities and was excited to cross Boston off my list. I ate a giant lobster roll at Neptune Oyster (which was yummy, but I’ve decided that Oregon Dungeness Crab is my shellfish of choice), had an amazing meal at Mistral, shopped on Newbury Street and did the pregnant lady, abbreviated version of the Freedom Trail (which I mistakenly called the Liberty Trail the entire weekend, which really annoyed my husband).

Speaking of eating, I cannot stop eating this soup. I made it for dinner with Kerri Anne last week and then made it last night. It’s amazing, though it’s not a “boy soup.” Bill deemed it “too lemony.” Whatever, more for me. Also, my evil friend Regan made a post about no bake dessert and I’m now obsessed with those damn Reese’s bars. Hope you’re happy, Regan.

And, that is it for now…What have you been up to?

Okay I officially need to see this belly (and YOU! sheesh!) in person. Too cute! And I literally started a pregnancy style pin board b/c I loathe maternity wear so much. Perhaps they think that along with morning sickness comes fashion amnesia?

    Loves!

Man, I wish I could have a lobster roll right about now…

Baby mama! Love it! And you’re still so skinny despite the baby bump.

I hear you on the 44,000 maternity swimsuits thing. That’s about how many I ordered last summer before I went to California where I knew I’d be going to the beach. :-) I did find a good one eventually, though.

That soup looks really delicious! And man, now I want a Reese’s peanut butter cup.

Lately I’ve been staying indoors because it’s a million degrees here in D.C., and placating my grouchy baby who has a cold.

I like the demi panel the best until my bellybutton pops. Though I’ve never noticed the dent before and now I’m worried I’ve been looking like an idiot with one. Great, thanks. That can be your revenge for the Reese’s bars.

Aww, my soon to be born nephew’s room is an adorable (yet understated and modern) giraffe/safari theme too. SO CUTE. Also, I love Babar so much. I wanted to decorate our girls’ playroom entirely in Babar or vintage circus-but was vetoed. Have fun!

I’ve been looking at that soup – how many does it serve?

I, sadly, feel like once I get pregnant the clothes won’t differ that much from what is already offered to plus sized women at stores like Old Navy and Target. The material IS crap and it s annoying. That being said, you do not look giant- you look beautifully pregnant. :-)

Lovely! All of it. My sister is due a month before you and I have a countdown on my phone. I’m so excited to be an aunt.

I’ll have to drool over your baby prep, though, because they are moving the month before and are not buying anything right now! Speaking of… I love everything on your Pintrest Nursery board. I say go for the orange rocker. So fab.
