This week last year I was floating in a pool in Costa Rica with an enormous (or so I thought) belly and a mocktail in my hand. Now that that Baby on Board is here we decided to forgo the fancy tropical vacation and do some work on our house instead (and by that I mean have someone remodel our bathroom).

I’m not going to lie, I do wish we could have been floating in a pool somewhere, but our low key week was fun.

Here’s what we were up to:

Henry got his first hair cut. Here he is before. (For those in the Portland area, we went to Little Clippers in Lake Oswego. Highly, highly recommend)

We met two fabulous ladies for brunch on the Fourth. Henry tried his hardest to put the moves on LG. He likes older women, apparently. Sadly, she refused to give him the time of day.

We spent two nights at the coast (one in Seaside with my dad and one night at Salishan in Gleneden Beach) and let Henry stay up WAY past his bedtime to see the fireworks.

Don’t worry, though. He had a good nap the next day.

You’ll hear many Oregonians say that summer in Oregon doesn’t truly start until the 5th of July and that was certainly the case this year. The weather at the coast could not have been more perfect.

We ate at the Pelican Pub once, Blackfish twice (where I had the salmon with Oregon Blue Cheese Potato Gratin, OMG)  and had the world’s best hashbrowns at our hotel. Then we got home and I decided that if I wanted to continue to eat like that I had better get on a program. So, I went back to Bar Method and started the Couch to 5K.

Not a bad little staycation.

(Oh, and P.S. Henry did do some floating in a pool.)
