Recipe Recap
As I mentioned in my list of goals for 2013, I want to try one new recipe a week. Well, I am proud to say that I am a huge overachiever because I have tried five new recipes since the beginning of the year. (Do you find it at all interesting that I’m overachieving on my cooking/eating goals but underachieving at my fitness goals?)
Anyway! Here’s what I’ve been making:
Tartine Chocolate Pots de Creme – Bill gave me the Tartine Cookbook for Christmas, which is a ridiculously beautiful cookbook with many recipes that are way beyond my baking level. I wanted to make something special for New Year’s Eve and these definitely fit the bill. I halved the recipe as we really didn’t need EIGHT of them for the two of us, though they were so good that I wished I had made the full recipe. Anyway, these are easy and a great dessert idea for a dinner party as you can get them ready ahead of time.
Red Beans and Rice Soup – This was super easy and really delicious. Way too spicy for Henry, though. Perfect dinner for a cold day.
Ricotta Meatloaf – You guys, I am not kidding you when I say this is the best meatloaf that I’ve ever made. It’s probably a better weekend meal as it does take a long time to bake. Henry did not like it for dinner but he ate it for lunch the next day. Silly kid.
Black Eyed Pea Dip – I brought this over to my brother-in-law’s New Year’s Day party and it was fantastic. My plan is to make it every year for good luck.
Slow Cooked Mustard Short Ribs – Oh, I really wanted to love this recipe. Maybe I bought crappy short ribs. Who knows. I did love the sauce so I think I may try this recipe again with a small pot roast. I’ll keep you posted.
Have you made anything tasty lately?

Everything sounds fantastic, but I need to make the ricotta meatloaf and the pots de creme NOW. My brother lives a few blocks from Tartine so I always require a trip or two to the bakery while I’m in SF.

I’ve been roasting everything- veggies, chicken. Seems easiest for me and tasty.
I did make this delicious salmon recipe with coconut rice. I can email you the recipes if that’s something you guys like. I’m going to make this soup this weekend:http://zestycook.com/curried-red-lentil-soup-with-chickpeas-and-quinoa/
