Because you were hoping for another BlogHer Update Post, and I always deliver

Okay. I’m home, and, almost even rested. My flight finally arrived in Portland last night at 8:30, only 4 hours past my original arrival time. Luckily, after two and a half big silly airport beers*, I slept the entire two hour flight home.

After lugging my 65 pound suitcase (no! really!) up to my second floor apartment, I noticed that my cat appeared to weigh only 12 pounds, instead of 16 (totally an optical illusion, she was her lard ass self this morning when we woke up), then I flung myself wildly into my UnHeavenly Bed and went to sleep.

And, then, this morning, I woke up and cried, “WHERE ARE MY FRIENDS!?!?!?!” Seriously, I miss you guys! Carly, and Sizzle, and Kristabella, and Slynnro, and Heather, and SAJ, and Marilyn, and Jenny, and so so many other girls that I hung out with and giggled with. You all always have a place in my guest room in Portland! Also, I loved spending lots of time with Kerri and Katherine, even though, you know, we all live in the same city.

Highlights of the trip, for me included: The Community Keynote, the Taking Back Naked Blogging Session, and the Macy’s Party (where I was so totally let in to the back area where they keep all the size 11s. It was a big footed girl’s DREAM), and finally exploring San Francisco with Carly, who had never ever been there before.

A word about Carly: Dude, we were SEPARATED at birth. You know, other than the part where she’s a year older than me, we could totally be twins. We have the same ridiculously evil sense of humor, and pretty much the exact same laugh (video to follow of us laughing maniacally).

I’ve been thinking a lot about the dynamic that went on at BlogHer. Meeting these women and having a sort of instant bond with them that reminds me a lot about the bond I have with the girls who were my dormmates at the UofO. Except, with my college girls (and the 3 that I still keep in touch with, I LOVE YOU GIRLS!) we were sort of forced to be friends, some random number generator put us all in one hall, and we made it work. With BlogHer, we chose to go, and we chose to seek each other out. And, like the girls I roomed with in Willcox Hall, the girls that I met at BlogHer will be my lifelong friends.

So, will I see you next year?

OH! And, my photos are HERE.

*Big Silly Beer is a term I have lovingly stolen from Fluid Pudding, because she is awesome, and I’m very sorry I almost made her miss the bus to the Alltop Party.

OK seriously, I know I’ve said it a million times on a million different sites but it was so AWESOME!

And pulling into the parking lot this morning, I spotted a co-worker and was all “you are not from BlogHer! I want to be back in SF!”

Can’t wait until next year!

BEING HOME SUCKS.

And not just because of my damn car.

Aww man! I missed out on some FUN. Oh well. I’ll just live vicariously thru ya’ll.

You wouldn’t happen to be THE Rhiannan from THE secret room in Ruby Skye, and subsequently in front of The Sesame Street room? Because, if you are, I am SO not flipping you off, I swear. :)

Yeah, I might have to go again next year.

YOU my dear were a highlight of my conference experience. You and C crack me the hell up. Thanks for watching out for me!

Secret room? Hey! We bailed on Ruby Skye and had a blast over at Tadich’s.

It was incredible to meet you and I am now going to buy you ALL DAY LONG on Twitter. bwahahahah

Hee hee, we were in both secret rooms together — at Ruby Skye and Macy’s! I just blogged about our Macy’s shoe adventure here: http://lunchinabox.net/2008/07/23/packing-cupcakes-and-blogher-08/ I’m so happy I found you to drag back into Bigfoot Woman Paradise!

Almost made me miss the bus? Seriously–I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Because I got to meet YOU!

Can I just say I was beside myself getting to meet you. You are just as funny and fun and outstanding in real-person. Perhaps it sounds like flattery, but golly… you are awesome! Who doesn’t like to be told their awesome?

:)
