Y’all. I am scared. SCARED. One week from today, a hopefully very competent and sober surgeon will cut into my nether regions and remove part, if not all of my right ovary. Now, I know in the scheme of things, this is not a big deal. But, this involves needles, sharp things, and also anesthesia. So, enter the scary.
Here’s how it breaks down:
60% Chance- Laparospcopic Surgery – In this instance, the cyst and only the cyst is removed. RhiRhi is back to life as normal in under a week. Home from hospital? Hopefully same day. I will buy myself this upon my recovery.
30% Chance- Laparotomy – In this case, the cyst is a bit too messy and the surgeon needs a bit more room to take it out. This doubles RhiRhi’s recovery time. Home from hospital? Next afternoon, if all goes as planned. This will be my gift to myself upon my recovery. Also, perhaps the shoes linked to above, depending on what a big girl I was.
10% Chance- Caesarean Section – Well, that’s just silly, I’m not having a baby! But, if things are not right, and my entire ovary needs to come out, this is what I will have. Recovery time = suck. If this happens, I will buy myself a pony AND the purse AND the shoes.
I have a couple exciting guest posters lined up for you lovelies, but for the most part hope to be typing incoherent posts just for you within a couple of days. In the meantime, please keep me and my lady parts in your thoughts and prayers. And, if I do need to stay overnight in the hospital, don’t you worry, because there is a beauty salon on the second floor of the hospital and I’m just going to see if I can make a just in case appointment there.

Yes, 60 looks a lot nicer than 30 and 10.In fact, I’m giving the stink eye to 10.
But, as a perk, you’ll get to watch bad t.v. for an entire week! And I can bring you ice-cream! Do you get to have ice-cream? Because I want to bring it to you.

Worst! Here’s to hoping for 60%! (Although the 30% bag would be fantastic,)

Well I haven’t had THAT Laparospcopy but I’ve had A Laparospcopy (endometriosis? present!) and while it wasn’t fun it wasn’t that bad at all. If you have that one you will be relaxin’ and mostly just uncomfortable. So that’s good, right?

Here’s to short recovery time and ice cream with sprinkles! (And bags.)

Here’s hoping its that 60%! I hope you have peeps to take care of you, and bring you trashy books and magazines. If you don’t however, I will bring you some.

I finally stop by your blog after meeting you at BlogHer and find out that your lady parts are in peril! (Wait. Did you mention something about this while we waited for the elusive shuttle bus at Guy Kawasaki’s house? I can’t remember. I had just down a whole glass of Israeli red and things were a little fuzzy.) I hope all goes well and that you recover quickly. Sending good ju-ju to your va-jay-jay. (Okay, I know it’s an ovary. But that wouldn’t have sounded so funny.)

Hoping for that 60%!!! I’m sure things will be just fine.
BTW, I have nominated you for an award! You are such an awesome chick… please click over to my blog to claim your award.

I think it sucks that you have to deal with ANY of this. You are the most lovely woman (Who didn’t even hold ‘DUDE, I NEED TO PEE! COULD YOU PLEASE MOVE?!” against me.)
HUGS.

That sounds very unfun. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that you end up only entitled to the shoes…though I really like the bag a lot.
However, I am laughing at the recession post and then the ‘I’m gonna buy a $400 purse’ post. great timing on that one. :) hehee

I hear you on the scary girlparts surgery thing. I’ve had three irregular pap smears in a row, plus a cervical biopsy that has come back with “slight dysplasia”. So, I go back in six months, yet again…and if it’s not normal by then…they are going to laser the crap out of me. So not fun.
So..I send you virtual bloghugs.
*hugs*

Been there – done that. Not fun. Just thought you might like to hear from someone who went through this. I had an endometrioma (instead of a cyst) and went into surgery with all the same options. They removed the mass and most of the ovary, all through a laparotomy. Stayed in hospital overnight and had some bad reactions to pain meds, but recovered relatively quickly. Hopefully, you get to go home same-day and recover even more quickly! I’ll be thinking of you! (And your recovery rewards look fab!)

I am thinking you should get the shoes and the bag just for having your important reproductive parts partially stolen from you at such an early age. And I assume you will be getting the pink for both?
As for the pony — if have to but yourself the pony and the bag and shoes I suggest you add a hot man hunk to tend to the pony. Just an idea.

Get yourself the bag regardless! And of course good luck.

Oh, honey, that sucks. I have been there and done that. I am crossing my fingers that they will be in and out in a jiffy. I can come down to stay with you if you need help.

Here’s to a measly Laparoscopy! I had one (and a cyst removed) and was fine. I went out for dinner that night. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that all goes just as smoothly for you and you’re home, soaking up adoration and pampering, from your kitty and The Boy in no time.

Oh my, should I be laughing as hard as I am after that post? Probably not..but if you get a pony then I’m totally coming to visit! Good luck lady

Had this same thing done – they took my right ovary through Laparoscopy – and it was outpatient. I ended up staying all night because I got sick from the anesthesia. Some abdominal pain, but not so bad. Just don’t plan on wearing pants with a button and zipper any time soon!
By Michelle on 08.07.08 7:37 am | Permalink
Um, yeah, been there, done that.
I hope this isn’t TMI.
First laparotomy in ’88 (dang, I’m old) to remove a grapefruit-sized endometrial cyst from my left ovary.
Three laparoscopies later…complete removal of my left ovary via another laparotomy.
I just wanted you to know I can so relate, and I’ll be sending you happy, healing thoughts.

I have a couple of c-section but at least I had something to show for it!
Here’s hoping it’s the easiest, least painful option.
