Oh, look! It’s September! And, in just 3 months and 8ish days, I shall become a woman turn 30. I’m far too lazy to come up with a list of 30 things to accomplish before 30, and if I did it would quite honestly contain the word WINE far too often - so can we compromise and do 10? (MY LIST, MY RULES!)
Okay, so these are the ten very important things I’d like to accomplish before December 10th, 2008. Of course if I accomplish them all, I’ll reward myself with something nice. And, if I don’t accomplish them I’ll console myself with something nice. Again, I MAKE THE RULES AROUND HERE.
- Be in the escrow process for my very own home (I had wanted to be an official homeowner, but some stuff is going on with the permits, etc on the condo and escrow is a better bet).
- Retake the GRE so that I can apply to Graduate School
- Play 18, fine 9 holes of golf with my dad (and have him roll his eyes at me under 20 times)
- Run a 5K (AND RUN THE ENTIRE TIME)
- Knit a pair of socks
- Sew something (ANYTHING)
- Throw a dinner party, successfully
- Learn to actually USE that fancy camera I paid a lot of money for
- Learn new ways to manage my anxiety so that I can live without Effexor
- Visit a state I’ve never been to before (being in the airport does NOT count)
Quite honestly, I’m proud of where I am at 29. But, had you told me 5 years ago that at my age I’d still be single, childless and about to go through menopause, I’d probably have slapped you. I’m excited to turn 30 (because it’s totally the new 20) and I think my new decade will be exciting, even if my car insurance STILL isn’t going to go down.

I turn 30 in April and I am honestly looking forward to it – everyone is so positive and happy about what a great decade it is. Also I think not being married is the new in-thing to wait for your 30′s to do.

I’m knocking on the door of 40 (okay about to turn the handle) and I can tell you I still feel, in most regards, like I’m in my 20′s. You should fly down to Reno and see Marilyn and I which would totally take care of item 10. However, it might exacerbate further item 9.

What a good mix of things on your list. I am especially digging #7, and bonus, that one sounds like it might involve wine.

I think you’ll make 30 your bitch, Rhi. :) And it is TOTALLY the new 20 as at 30, the good stuff is just beginning. Honestly!
Have you ever been to Nevada? Cuz I’m thinking that’d be a state to visit. ;)

The 30′s are awesome. I think I like 35 better than 30 even!

You can have me over at your dinner party. You know, when my company picks a date for my trip.
And I am ALL for sock knitting. Have you chosen a pattern yet?

I’m so over age really. I mean, I’m not like pumped about 30 (I’m 28). But at the same time, the older I get? The more I’m like eff the younger ages.

Does denial count as a state?
I kid. I kid.
I will be 28 for the 8th time this October. I’m sure there’s stuff I want to accomplish. I should probably write up a list soon…
At least you’re on your way to knitting some socks. I saw your ultra cool yarn in flickr. :)

I’ve always wanted to knit a pair of socks. Nothing stopping me, I know how to knit, I’m just too lazy.

I’m actually looking forward to being 30. Maybe the other parents will stop staring at me when I say I’m 30.

30 is great! I am loving my 30s! It really is like a switch flips and you just become more comfortable in your own skin!
And also, if you don’t accomplish them BY the time you turn 30, I think you should tell yourself to accomplish them in your 30th year, so you don’t feel like you didn’t accomplish something!
